Black Bear Farms of Ontario Estate Winery Inc. is a family owned and operated winery located on the family farm of Jerome and Madeline Rondelez and their three children Jerome, William, and Michelle.
The winery was created to add a different aspect to the farm one that can capture the characteristics of the berry and fruits that we grow. William Rondelez the family’s winemaker has captured the essence of the fruit and has put it in a bottle for all to enjoy year long.
By knowing first the fruits and berries with the family’s farming experience and the different characteristics of the different varieties of fruit that brings out the taste we can put that essence into the bottle.
One of the most asked question by our customers is how did we come up with the name Black Bear Farms of Ontario Estate Winery Inc. There is really two reasons, the first is the family had a loyal family black dog named Bear for over 14 years and the farm was named after him and now the winery! Second bears love berries and we specialize in growing berries on our 83 acre farm such as strawberries, all different kinds of raspberries, black currants, blueberries and more!
And with that we opened our winery doors on December 14, 2008 and to our surprise five months to the day we opened William was receiving a gold medal at the 2009 All Canadian Wine Championship for Papa’s Special Reserve and a bronze medal for Purple Raspberry.
They say life is full of the unexpected and adventure and here at Black Bear we are living it and growing each day so come over and see the country charm our little winery brings and experience some of the hard work and pride we put into our wines.
